Feliciano López Diaz-Guerra (born on September 20,
1981) is a Spanish professional male tennis player.
He was born in Toledo and now lives in the Spanish
capital Madrid.
In his career he has won one singles title in Vienna
in 2004, beating Guillermo Cañas in the final. He
also has won one doubles title in Stockholm also in
2004, with Fernando Verdasco.
In 2005 he was the first male Spanish tennis player
to reach the quarter-final of Wimbledon since 1972,
when Manuel Orantes reached the semi-finals. This is
Lopez's best Grand Slam result so far. He is
currently ranked 41th in ATP Rankings and is 108th
in the ATP Race. His highest ranking is 20th.
Like many of the top spanish players Lopez is
left-handed, however unlike some of his compatriots
he uses a one handed backhand. He is known for his
strong serve and ability to play balls repetitively
on the base line. He is also a confident net player
and has been known to adopt the serve and volley
routine of play during matches.
