David Moss (born December 28, 1981 in Livonia,
Michigan) is an American professional ice hockey
right winger for the Calgary Flames.
Moss was selected 220th overall in the seventh round
of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft and played for the
Flames' AHL affiliate, the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights
from the 2005-06 season. While with the Knights, he
was third in team scoring with 21 goals and 48
points. As the team's leading scoring rookie, Moss
also led the Knights with 16 powerplay goals which
was tied for third in the league. A late season
injury prevented him from playing the entire season.
On December 19, 2006, Moss was recalled by the
Calgary Flames, and on that same day scored the game
winning goal on his National Hockey League debut
against the Los Angeles Kings. He followed this with
two more goals in his next two games, both against
the Vancouver Canucks, to begin his NHL career with
a three-game goal streak.
David's cousin, Phil Kessel, plays for the Boston
Bruins.
