William Casey Blake (born on August 23, 1973 in Des
Moines, Iowa) is an American professional baseball
player. Currently, Blake is a third baseman and
plays for the Cleveland Indians of Major League
Baseball's American League Central Division.
Prior to joining the Indians in 2003, Blake played
with the Toronto Blue Jays, Minnesota Twins and
Baltimore Orioles. He alternated between playing at
third base and first base before becoming a
full-time third baseman with the Indians. In 2005,
Blake moved to right field to accommodate the
Indians' signing of third baseman Aaron Boone, but
has since moved back to third.
Blake was drafted twice prior to signing with the
Blue Jays: in 1992, he was taken during the 11th
round by the Philadelphia Phillies; in 1995, he was
taken by the New York Yankees during the 45th round.
