Brian Stephen Giles (born 20 January 1971 in El
Cajon, California) is an American Major League
Baseball player with the San Diego Padres.
Giles attended Granite Hills High School. He was
drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 17th round
of the 1989 amateur draft. He played for the Indians
from 1995–1998, and the Pittsburgh Pirates from
1999–2003. Giles was traded to his current team, the
San Diego Padres, in August 2003.
The left-handed Giles has a career line of
.295/.408/.525 with 260 home runs, 334 doubles and
1,006 walks in 1,518 games. He played in San Diego
with his brother Marcus during the 2007 season.
