m with Jeremy Wariner running the third leg. He is
known for wearing sunglasses for all of his races,
regardless if it is sunny or not.
He is the first Caucasian man to win Olympic gold at
400 m since Viktor Markin in 1980, and the first
white American man to win a medal of any kind in the
sprints (400m and under) since Michael Larrabee won
the 400 in 1964. Wariner also won the 400 m at the
2005 United States Track and Field Championships
with a time of 44.20. At the World Championships in
Helsinki he won the 400 m in 43.93, and later

the gold medal.
Wariner currently attends Baylor University but is
not a Baylor athlete since he's a professional
athlete. Until 2008, Wariner was coached by Clyde
Hart, who was also the coach of Baylor alumnus and
two-time Olympic 400 m gold medal winner and nine
time world champion Michael Johnson. In 2008,
Wariner announced he would be coached by Baylor
assistant coach Michael Ford.
In 2006, Wariner ran a new personal best of 43.62

with Asafa Powell (100 m) and Sanya Richards

League events (400 m) in the same season, which
earned him a total of $250,000.
On August 31, 2007 at the World Championships in
Osaka he won the 400 m in 43.45, improving his
personal best with the fifth-fastest 400 m of all
time (only Michael Johnson and Butch Reynolds have
run faster).
He has additionally competed in the 200 m, with a
personal best of 20.19 achieved in 2006.
